When the democrats turn everything around?

"It's a trickle-down effect! These are the results of policies we implemented years ago!"

...and if they screw things up?

Actually, I should have said 'If they screw things up worse.'

You make a very good point. They have created such a mess: the war, the deficit, the alienation of the US from the rest of the world... It won't be easy to clean up and the right-wing spin doctors will be creating controversy and undermining every honest effort the Democrats make. Maybe the right-wing has learned a lesson but I seriously doubt it.

Well, the gas prices went up! I'm sure the republicans will blame it on the democrats.

If they succeed---the republicans will say that they set the balls in motion. They set the precedence and the democrats just followed.

If they fail--the republicans will point the finger and say that they would have done a better job.

It's pretty much like stem cell research, huge in Missouri right now since it BARELY was passed.

If stem cells find a cure to some disease, people are going to say that it was divine intervention.

If stem cells don't find a cure within the first 10 years, people are going to say that it's being used to close, regardless of whether or not there is proof of that.

Republicans are going to say, "Here, Mr. President. This is your VETO pen. Sorry we've been hiding it from you for six years, but we think you might need it now."

Actually, there are some things that might get done, and done well. The President's ideas on immigration reform are more like the Dems than the GOP, for example.

I hope the GOP realizes that the people have spoken, and that their choices are to deny the will of the people by stonewalling, or accept the will of the people by compromising. I hope the Dems realize that their majority is not as vast as the swing makes it look, and that they cannot afford to engage in the same sort of one-sided politics that we've seen from the GOP for six years.

It's a vain hope, but I like my little dreams...

well, i'm just hoping true conservatism will return to the Republican party now that the neoCONS have been shown to be scandal ridden criminals and utter failures.

wealthy Republicans will whine and whimper when Dems don't keep in the huge tax breaks and close the tax and environmental protections loopholes for mega corporations that GW provided them. for some reason Republican voters think wars are waged for free, either that or they don't mind saddling the up and coming generations with paying for their avarice. and apparently Republicans believe they can go on raping and despoiling the environment indefinitely without consequence, either that or they don't mind that the up and coming generations will have to struggle to survive in a toxic waste dump.

LFMAO... they will probably try to revolt and then the country will fall into Anarchy because they will have killed each other and the president at the same time... and then we will all have to move to Britain and start talking with their accent so this way we know how to survive with the law telling us what to do... Which we complain about anyways... Good enough answer?

The democrats have a slight majority in the house, thats it. Don't get too excited. Don't matter what the democrats are going to find a way to lose next time.

After saying a short and hurried good-bye to Rumsfeld, the Repubs will huddle together for a tender, "Oh Crap!"
