I'm 15. Do I need to have both parents present when I apply for my passport? My dad lives in Maine, but my parents aren't divorced or separated. Can just my mom take me to get my passport? Is it different for each state?

You say that you are 15 years old. . . you would need only ONE Parent present when you apply for your passport. Check out the website I've attached. Or call the Chicago City Clerk's office to clear up any questions.

From their website:

"All first time applicants must apply in person"

"Effective February 1st, 2004, ALL applicants including minors 16 years old or younger must be present when applying for a passport. Those applying between the ages of 14 - 16 must be accompanied by one parent or legal guardian. Applicants 13 years old or younger must have both parents or legal guardians present. "

Good Luck

You can probably find all the info you need on a government website some where. I was 16 I when got my first passport, and as I recall only my mom went with me. That was 16 years ago, but I doubt you need both parents there with you now.

You just need one parent or guardian to take you to get your passport. Just go to the post office and they'll have the application there for you. Remember to take 2 photos of you with for it. They prefer just plain, straight on head shot photos, not smiling and no posing. It takes about 6-8 weeks to receive a passport unless you pay an additional fee to have it rushed.
