What could people do to earn more money?

If it's so obvious on how to earn more than minimum wage, why does the government have to step in and do it for them?

Education, skills training. Most other things like drive, determination, work ethic, and inteligence are harder to change. But education is a good start. Skills training is probably an even better choice. There will soon be a shortage if there already isn't already in the skilled trades. If you work hard or are very good at what you do its a sure fire way to retire a millionaire.

People earn minimum wages because they do not have skills that are needed to earn more. Note that "skills" is a very broad concept and includes basic things like speaking and understanding English, being able and willing to show up on time, and being able to tell the difference between subordination and disrespect...

It depends on the job market and people's skills. If somebody wants to earn more, they need to train and get qualifications. There will always be jobs that pay no more than the minimum wage and there will always be people there to fill them.

Get educated, get work experience, get work ethic. The only ones who should be making minimum wage are teenagers just starting out. If you are an adult and are only making minimum wage, you made some bad decisions in your life and it's time to take stock.

Find a higher paying job. Get educated and a lot more doors will open up.
