When you are ready to buy a new system, go to www.stupidcheapcomputers.net. I buy all of my stuff from them, and everything is Vista ready.

Microsoft is about to release its latest operating system, Vista, in January. It’s going to make all of these “bargain” computers nothing but JUNK as soon as it’s released. The reason that you are seeing so many cheap systems on the market right now is because a lot of them CAN’T RUN Vista and the merchants are trying to dump them as hard and fast as they can before Vista shows up and everyone learns what a piece of crap they were sold for $500 (or whatever).

Anyway, I bought a complete, new system from stupidcheapcomputers.net with a warranty for LESS than it would cost me to build it myself or order a custom one from the manufacturer. You can use my frequent buyer code: ATX926. That will get an additional 10% discount at checkout.

I have NEVER had any problems with anything that they have sold me and their customer service is outstanding. Those guys blow my mind.

Good luck!

There are many small computer shops in most cities that have computers. Look up one of them in your Yellow Pages for your city.

Unlike Dell, HP and other Name Brands, you don't get saddled with unwanted software and hardware. Many times, they can even build a system a bit cheaper than the Brand Names.

And, unlike Tiger Direct and other "houses, " no shipping and handling charges (which can get quite expensive).

For example: I go to A.T. Distribution, Inc. near where I live for purchasing computer parts. They even have a website: http://www.atd-inc.com where you can order a PC directly from them.

Ultimately, you have to decide where you wish to buy your custom built system.

Depends on exactly what you're looking for.

If you just need more memory, better video card, larger hard drives, etc.. you can get that from any big name manufacturer. I can't think of one that doesn't customize systems to order.

If you want something extreme there are a few options. Alienware has a good name in the business for building extreme systems. http://www.alienware.com/ I'd check them out if that's something you're interested in.

You could also build a custom system yourself. There really isn't much to putting a PC together from parts.

Anyway, good luck. :)

Open the phone book search for computer's, then call and tell the tech what you want to do and what will it cost him to build one. This way you have a local guy working on your computer and if you mess something up or its not right he'll come out and fix it. Hope this helps..

Im a big fan of the "mom and pop" shops look in the phone book for a local shop youll get excellent service, humans to talk to, better quality and if anything ever goes wrong you dont have to ship it out and wait 3 months for it to be fixed or replaced.
