On page 64 (of THE HOBBIT) the word "skriking" appears. I've looked it up in the dictionary, and it doesn't seem to be a word. But I still need to find the sentence in the text where it is, but I've left my book at home!!

Please give me the sentence which the word "skriking" is in. Thank you! (I always choose a best answer!!)

Here is the sentence: The yells and yammering, croaking, jibbering and jabbering; howls, growls and curses; shrieking and skriking, that followed were beyond description. Several hundred wild cats and wolves being roasted slowly alive together would not have compared with it.

skriking is like shrieking basically.

the sentence is:
"The yells and yammering, craking, jibbering and jabbering, howls, growls and curses; shrieking and skriking, that followed were beyond discription"

and it is on page 61 of the Houghton Mifflin 1997 edition.
