my ex wants to be friends with me. i don't really want to be friends because i believe his reasons are BS. i've sort of already decided not to speak to him again, but it hurts. when people want two very different things is there really a point to staying in touch? and i've only known him for like 3 or 4 months. is it worth saving? should i bother?

i suppose staying in touch depends on how important that person is to me or how much i truly care about them right?

Well, it depends. If you really truly don't want to be friends and don't feel that there is a friendship to save, then why bother? BUT if it's just because it's painful to be around him, it may be worth it to give it a shot.

Take a few weeks off. Don't see him or talk to him. Give yourself time to start the healing process. Then see how you feel about the friendship thing.

This could be considered a form of closure. Everyone needs closure of some kind. My mom taught me to never burn my bridges. This is one of those circumstances. By parting ways on bad terms, this could hurt you more later then now. ie; You part on friendly terms....10 years from now, you apply for something important job parsay, and hes the boss unexpectedly, but its the best job offer around and you cant pass it up, tadah hes your friend and chances are youll get that job..
I know this maybe a bad analogy but at the same time I hope you get what Im saying. Life has a very funny way of coming back to bite you in a**. Granted you have only known him short while, and yes your perturbed with him, but in the long run, youll just feel like the bigger person, and remember you never know when Karma is gonna sneak up on you. Besides being or remaining friends doesnt mean you have to be buddy buddy just not together and it wont matter that you want different things out of life, cause friends usaully dont want to do the same exact things. Just my advice, I do hope Ive helped some.

Your attitude about your ex is not only realistic, you are very mature in your handling the breakup.

It does hurt, but in the long run, trying to stay friends when you want totally different things out of life just prolongs the agony.

Good for you! You are well adjusted enough to recognize that when it is over- it's done.

Not if you don't want to. It might get in the way of any future relationships you have. And maybe he is trying to keep a foot in the door. Cut him off!

its not worth your time or effort. if you've only known him for 3 or 4 months there isn't much of an attachment so i say cut him loose for good.

Nah.. it sounds like he's trying to skeeze his way back into a relationship. If it was a short relationship, it won't take long for the wounds to heal.
