Basically, the industrial revolution was the change from a long period in history when agriculture was the major economic activity in which most people took part to the age in which manufacturing was the major economic activity. (More recently, in the US and EU, services have become dominant, but that is another story.) The industrial revolution began in England in the mid-1700s with inventions such as the steam engine and the spinning jenny (for making cotton cloth). Inventions, particularly inventions of machines, are a hallmark of the industrial revolution. It was the great change after which most people in developed countries lived in towns, whereas before it they lived in villages.
There is no hard-and-fast yardstick by which to define "developed" and "developing" countries, but basically the economies of developed countries are nowadays dominated by services, they usually have a significant manufacturing sector and a very small (2-3% of GDP) agricultural sector. The most important difference is that most of the people in developed countries are better off. They are consumer societies - by which I mean that most people can afford lots of consumer goods and have houses full of 'things', and they spend money on services like haircuts and gyms and taking holidays (US: vacations) which cost money, typically 2-3 weeks a year on a sunny beach somewhere. In "developing" countries the majority of people are poor by our standards (they certainly won't have a computer in their homes for example, unless they use it for their employment, and in the poorer countries they won't have electricity either). Basic healthcare needs may not be met, not even clean water in the really poor countries. Often the majority of people are peasant farmers (people who eat what they themselves grow).
In developed countries, most people have more rooms than people in their homes. In developing countries, people live much more densely maybe 6 in a room in a city slum.

The industrial revolution was a time in America History where we used newer and more modern methods to make products cheaply and efficiently. A developed country is a country that has a higher GOP, it is more modern. The standard of living is more better. An undeveloped country is just the opposite.

DEVELOPING COUNTRIES? ok you want some blaming then dont' blame them. Take africa for example, one of the poorest nations on the earth. They got coal, they got oil, they can easily burn it to make power, but no greenies put allot of pressure on the gov not to touch their resourses. Now Life without electricity is tough: no clean water, no lights, no heating, no air conditioning, no fridge, sleep early(no lights) wake up early(to work in what ever is left to do for $200/year) . People who live in these conditions have terrible life expectancy rates. Environmentalist are the biggest force out there to stop developing countries from developing! Say if Africa can start electricity up and start developing, they'll have better life expectancy rates, more jobs because they are expanding infrastructure, cause of better infrastructure they can get more transport, with more transport they'll have more access to schools, health clinics, hospitals, POLICE. These peoples COULD have a bright future ahead of themselves that they could grab. Who is stoping them from bieng a developed country? EDIT: WHo ever made the chinas are making more co2 pollution then US is right and wrong. One thing he fails to mention is how much both countries make in comparision to natural co2 bieng produced. Co2 out of all the gasses in the atmosphere is 0.054%, now OUR contribution as a whole in humans with all our cars trains planes contribute only 5% of that 0.054%. Theres the argument of "Ohh some toxins/poisens take less then 0.00001% to kill a human bieng" Well yes but those toxins/poisens are extremely potent, Co2 is a MINOR green house gass so 0.054% X MINOR = NOT SIGNIFICANT EDIT @ ALEX WTF 300 000 americans? theres more Americans in their army(550 000) then on land? last i heard the American population was in the hundreds of millions mate! EDIT @ EVERYONE haven't you noticed that GW gives more reasons to hate the US and the asians(Chinese)?
