I find it to be insulting to all women when a woman demeans herself by acting incompetent. I admire all the women who have ever served in the armed forces...They are women, but know that they are also strong.

I was in the Navy and this puzzled me also. But now 30 years have passed and I realize that it takes all kinds to make the world go around. I bunked with someone that was always to weak to do the task or having her period. I finally told her to carry her effing half. She was so insulted by the word effing that she requested another room mate. Someone who was kinder to her.

Perhaps you worded your question poorly. You are right, some women do demean themselves by acting imcompetent, but this is not an exaggeration of their femininity. A woman can be beautiful and feminine and extremely strong.

At times though, especially in work situations, women are put in a place where they have "to make the coffee". We call these good ole' boy networks and to get ahead or keep their jobs they have to "dumb down" so as not to make a man feel inferior.

Its a stupid game we all need to stop playing. Each person, female/male, culture, heritage, sexual orientation should be seen on their own individual merits.

How many times do men hear

"your not needed"

"the world would be a better place without men "

"as soon as we can clone ourselves we will get rid of men"

Now i am not advocating women playing dumb or helpless by any stretch of the means . But hey it is nice to feel "useful"
That we men have a "purpose"
All too often were presented with the ice queen who has "no need for us"
Im not saying a woman should cry at the drop of hat
im not saying dont change the tire if you can
what i am saying is be human
be warm
have a heart beat or pulse

It is primal for us men to protect the women we love and cherish and i make no apology what so ever for it

I am not advocating women do this but for some insight for all of you dissing woman who play this role know this the reason why it works so well is becuase we are "needed" we are "useful" and were more than just "sperm donors"

Dont be fake about what you can do and cannot do but be human and not a frosty ice queen

Its nice to be needed for other things than sex .

I think women who act incompetent are doing it for the attention, especially that from a guy. Perhaps they think that by being the "damsel in distress", they'll attract the eye of the knight in shining armor. Truth be told, however, most folks I know- including the men- would catch onto that kind of thing fairly quickly, and be turned off by it. It is indeed insulting- I agree with you 100 percent.

Acting incompetent is not "exaggerating femininity". Femininity has nothing to do with incompetent.

Acting incompetent is acting incompetent.

Being strong doesn't mean not being feminine. They're two different things and not necessarily related to one another.

I've seen my share of men who "conveniently don't know how to do something". They're not acting feminine or exaggerating their masculinity. Again, they're just acting incompetent so they don't have to do something. Its an equal opportunity BS technique.

Because they have been taught to believe (by some bonehead)that a man is more attracted to a woman who "needs to be taken care of". I find it just as insulting as you. I also can't stand to see in movies where the stupid chick falls down when running away from the bad guy or holding a weapon and standing there screaming instead of using the weapon. It makes my blood boil. I mean, not even a true bubblehead will do that.

Feminity is a woman virtue,
Don't get confused by the military acting ways
Don't expect to find rudeness in all women
They are a lot of stronger woman who had never served in the military...and they have better attitude towards life and work than some men who happen to be in the military, and thats no offense to no one.

I think our idea (especially in under 30s) of what is feminine is skewed. Being a lady used to mean being well mannered, charming, witty, educated. Nowadays, "Fergie Ferg" is acting like her IQ is 30, and rubbing against Beefeaters, and she claims to be a lady. I despair of these moronic attitudes.

Positive!

I am from a very much of experience of that sort of thing!
I also came to observe that it is a problem that starts at home in early years!

But it also a way or another for a woman/girl to gain self-esteem

LOL :)

Femininity does not mean stupidity.

Exaggerating being stupid is not being feminine.
