sorry to say most of these answers are just wrong. synthetic oil will not make you burn more oil. unless your car is an oil burner to begin with. Mobil-1 isnt the best synthetic out there. some of the best are amsoil, redline to just name a few.

as far as increase in MPG from synthetic oil. you would see some. like 1 to 3 MPG more. if you see any increase at all. I run synthetic oil in my truck and havent seen an increase.

in closing if your just going to do 3,000 mile oil changes. then stick with your regular dino oils. if you want to go on longer extended drain periods of like 7,000 to 15,000 miles. then go with synthetics. just remember not all synthetics are true synthetics.
