I currently live in California and the cost of living has sky rocketed. My husband and I have been considering moving to another state so that we can afford to live. He has suggested Oregon. I'm afraid I know nothing about it. How easy is it to find a good job?

I live in southern Calif and have moved twice from here to live in Oregon. Since I find myself in so Ca again it is because of the difficult time we had making a living. My husband is a native Oregonian and that made it no easier.
There are many variables within the benefits of living there. Your best success would come from three scenarios. Your company is opening or transferring you to their Oregon facility. You will work doing anything available, two jobs if necessary, to raise your children in a better place. You are retiring or are disabled and you can be certain of income.
I have lived many places and of all of them there are three that are my favorites. Riverside County, Ca, Jackson or Josephine County, Or. Medford or Grants Pass respectively offer a weather change not to different than so Ca and the fishing and hunting are marvelous. The schools for the most part are very good to prepare you to become a service worker which is mostly the work available there. The jr and four year collages prepare you to move somewhere else.
The most successful permanent moves are by people that are truck drivers, waitresses, grocers, teachers, nurses, police, fireman, have a social services background or have a degree that translates into work there. It isn't as true now as it was twenty years ago but Oregonians, even non-natives, do not like Californians. There used to be a sign on Interstate 5 just over the border that read "Do not Californicate Oregon" and the first thing you do when you move there is switch your license plates to take the stigma away.
The thing to remember is everything is relative, wages dictate home prices. If you are going on the "look what the 300,000 for our current house will buy" you need to also look at the wages you will earn. Buy half the house or two houses and rent one. Anything left over put into investments or cd savings. Insurance, grocery and clothing prices offer no relief in cost of living savings as they are similar.
My husband and I miss Oregon terribly and count down the years to our retirement to return.

As mentioned by previous answerers, one of the great points related to cost-of-living is no sales tax. That may be offset, however, by higher property taxes than generally found in CA. I personally love Oregon (but don't forget that there can be a penalty for "driving while Californian" because in many small Oregon towns the local police increase income by particularly watching for Californians who disobey local speed laws), have known many people of all ages who have moved into the state from California, and all found satisfying employment. The air is cleaner than in southern CA, and the population currently is not overwhelming. I'd definitely vote for OR over CA. I've included a link to the state Chamber of Commerce, and every city you might be attracted to will probably have a Chamber, too. There's lots of info "out there" for you. Enrich yourself with information, and take a chance on a move which could change your lives in a positive way.

The economy is slow in Oregon. And there's a large population of people there from Washington/California there that the locals kind of resent. Economically speaking, and if you want to stay in the West, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas are great places to find jobs right now and real estate is cheaper than California. But the culture is great in Oregon, so good luck trying to live there, anyway. :)

People in Oregon do not like people from Cal because so many have moved there and in some areas have caused the property values to go crazy. There is no sales tax in Oregon but they make it up in very high property taxes, which are sometimes equal to about 1/3 of your monthly house payment.

in case you have moved to Washington from Oregon you at the instant are not to any extent further a resident there and can be charged sales tax. you won't be in a position to get out of paying tax because of the fact of the place you used to stay
