Why do some politicians and regular people vote not for the people who will try to solve the problems that need to be solved, but for their party instead? Is it all about the competition, is it about loyalty, etc?

It matters which party organizes Congress, so it matter what party a candidate belongs to.

It's about being informed about your own personal politics and beliefs to know the difference as to what party you belong and who represents you best. It's not a bad idea to vote for a member of the opposite party if you think they share your views or offer a better solution than your own representative. It's a matter of knowing what's best overall and being able to form your political beliefs around your personal beliefs rather than following a popular movement and being led around like some kind of blind idiot or a sheep.
