Why do Americans shout about how great their nation and army is and how they are going to win the war but when they are sent to war and start getting killed, the tide turns and they want to get them home!! Is joing the army and the possiblity of being killed not part of standing up and defending your nation? Why do the British not react in the same way?

The Fulkland War is coming up often in this question, What most people don't know about the fulklands is that is it is currently the biggest untapped oil supply in the world, bigger than the Middle East. Thats why the British want to keep hold of it, the same reason the US wants to hold Iraq,

Hey Slick, 5 will get you 10 that you've never been anywhere near an army enlistment office. And you talk trash about our troops?.
Oh Gee, I sure wish we could have fought a REAL war, like going against a few sheep-herders in the Faulklands.

The Americans are not cowards.Anyone, male OR female, from any nation, who wears a military uniform, and is given orders to fight in their country,or another peoples country, for whatever reason-rightly or wrongly, could not be classed as a coward. The 11th hour,of The 11th day,of The 11th month is upon us all again-World War One-"the war to end all wars" it was called in some circles.Perhaps we in this whole world today should be ever mind full of that fact, and the fact that so many peoples, from so many different country's across the globe laid down their lives for us.Soldiering, whether conscripted or voluntary,is a noble profession, and not given to "cowardliness".FALKLANDS-not FULKLANDS.

"Is joing the army and the possiblity of being killed not part of standing up and defending your nation?"

They aren't defending THEIR nation. They're defending another nation (which is a slap in the face of everything our Founding Fathers believed in) and in the process of trying to do that, another threat to their country has been created, the terrorist filled "nation" of Iraq. I don't blame them for not wanting to be there. See how you feel after you've been crippled in a mortar attack, watched your friend die, and they slap you back out there onto the battle field, limping and everything, to fight for people who hate your guts. I know, I know, tell me about how hardcore you are from behind your keyboard.

With such HORRIBLE leadership, I don't know how anyone could expect them to maintain high morale. I think Rumsfield being forced out (or "stepping down" as they call it) will give them a bit of a morale boost though. And BTW, the last time I checked the Brits were MORE pissed then us at the way things are going.

Don't forget that some people didn't want America to get involved in WWII. Most of us DO think we have a strong military and that our country is great, but sadly, we don't have much stomach for adversity. No one wants soldiers to die, but our media never presents anything but bad news to the American public. Some Americans just don't approve of the war at all, others approved at first but when the reality of it all sets in, they can't handle it. Very sad, isn't it?

The leaders - Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld never rallied people to sign up. The war in Iraq was to be fought on the cheap with limited troops and limited equipment. The all volunteer military was supposed to be self sustaining. The neocons used and abused it. They "volunteered" [for any and everything] was the attitude. The public was asked to do nothing for the troops, and until things got very bad in Iraq, they often forgot the US was at war..

Republicans are coming round to the concept that Bush replaced right into a liberal. They began to in route of the end of his second time period. some seriously is not confident, yet is fairly he did not flow all out monetary liberal until eventually his very last time period. it really is even as he signed the Medicare enlargement and threw out decrease back to diminish back stimulus plans (2008 checks + TARP). keep in mind that folk were nonetheless fired up about the warfare on terror on the time of the second one election, too. i imagine that likely overshadowed something else dealing with people's minds on the time. If shall we had the quagmire in Iraq (bear in mind, it replaced into clean on the time) and the monetary device that we've on the prompt, i do not trust he might want to were reelected in 2004.

Are you kidding? Have you watched the BBC at all in the past year? British people are VERY upset to be involved in the Iraq war. Americans do not want out of Iraq because our troops are getting killed, we want out because our government went to war for the wrong reasons and we are there with no strategy.

Please keep in mind Americans are dieing in Afghanistan too and there is NO call to abandon that war.

Are you a soldier? Or are you a soldier's spouse? If not I suggest you think about how you would like it if when you went to work you might die or one of your buddies probably was going to die. Just to protect the rights and freedoms of some jacka## who doesn't even realize how lucky he is. It is frustrating to know that my husband is risking his life to protect the people of the United States so that they don't have to feel the affects of war but then they aren't even thankful for the soldier's efforts. I am sure the families of the British soldiers who died feel the same as I do- it just is there aren't as many of those fighting this fight so their voices can't be heard as loudly. So before you go off on a tangent about the soldiers again why don't you take that energy and write a letter to your congressman or women to the senate- somebody who can do something meaningful with it. Believe me I write to people who can make a difference and the only reason you are getting a letter right now is bc my husband, who is in Iraq is on line but had to go to a meeting so i am waiting for him to get back. I hope that you continue to enjoy your freedoms- but remember there are men and women willing to die for you to have those freedoms even if they don't like the idea of death.

There's a big difference between politicians and real Americans.

Anyone who has the courage to put on a uniform and defend our freedom is no coward. They are true patriots.

Politicians on the other hand.... most don't have the guts to stand up and be counted as true patriot.

Oh! The old Nutshell about WWII comes out all the time with the Yanks!
America have never won a war on their own!
Interseting that when we, the French and Israelis went into Suez in 56, how quick were the Americans to get us out of there? Worried that the oil in the area would end up in European hands?
Bunch of losers! I served with U.S Forces, and they ain't much to "Shout Home About"
