If a person has a gun in there backpack or pocket, they are going to bring it in if they want. On most hotels, office buildings, medical centers, and other public buildings, there is that sign with the gun with a red circle and red strike across it, which is obviously stating that no guns are allowed. They even have one posted up to the entrance of a park near me. Seems pointless to me.

It is pointless unless you are caught. Then, because you were given warning, it is a felony with likely higher punishment. As far as those signs protecting citizens, they don't. After all, criminals by definition break the law and have no regard for the law. It only keeps honest citizens defenseless.

Only a law abiding gun owner willobey it. What I like is that the SCOTUS has ruled that if I do not have my ccw wep cause you put up a sign, then I get shot or hurt by a person I could have stopped had I had my wep, I can sue you for damages. A lot of damages. Thats why so many places in Texas and Arkansas have taken the signs back down.

There is only a couple of states where the signs carry the weight of law and you can get in trouble if you bring in a gun anyway. Most of the time all they can do is ask you to leave, and then if you don't, call the police.

So in other words, unless you live somewhere where the signs carry weight of law, ignore em.

It may be that if you attract attention and are arrested the presence of the sign can be used to bury you a little further in jail.

if they don't post the signs, carrying a gun in those areas would not be a violation of the premises

Probably not. Those who are planning to commit a crime won't let that stop them. Only honest people obey the law.
