I too tested positvie for Group B strep and it is a commonly occuring infection in women. My doctor didn't make a big deal of it either, I freaked out too when I read articles on the internet...But believe me don't worry. If you still test positive when you are in labor they will give you atibiotics to protect your baby from contracting it during delivery. My doctor told me that it is like a cold that comes and goes on it own. I gave birth to a healthy son. Our immune systems just take a vacation during pregancy and weird things can happen. Congrats on your pregnancy!

Nothing to freak out about-SERIOUSLY!!! I tested postivive with GBS with my last pregnancy AND this one.
They know you have it now, So nothing 'bad' can come of it...The only thing is- When you go into labor (Make sure you remind them that you have GBS) and during the actual labor, You'll be hooked up to an IV of penicillin...And I'm not sure how the hospitals are in your state, But in Indiana, They normally only keep healthy mom && baby 24hrs, If that's the case, You'll be kept 48hrs instead, Just to make sure everything is going smoothly after birth! :)
I had a very healthy baby boy- He weighed 8lbs 8oz, was 20 1/2 inches long...And hasn't had a medical problem yet (He's now 18 months)
It seems like a scary thing to have, But it's really not!!!
Congrats on the soon to be little bundle of joy!!!!
Oh- I was also made to take Macrobid 'til I delivered.

Just take the meds, and you'll be better in no time. Reading up on the internet is not always healthy. Its what could be in severe cases, not the average case. If there was any concern, the doctor would have told you.

First of all, stop freaking out! Calm down, write down some of the stuff you got off of the internet and call your doctor and ask him or her about them. Don't jump to conclusions that you will automatically end up with all of this stuff. If your doctor was concerned he or she would have told you to begin with. I assume he has you on medication, well continue it and then go back and talk to him or her about your concerns.

Your doctor is right, it is not that big of a deal, if left untreated, make sure you take the meds and be on time, it could cost you your life if you don't.
