Does my Creatine and Protein plan sound good / safe ?
I am a 20 year old male, relatively healthy - 6 foot tall, 180 lbs. I have recently lost 50 pounds and I now want to move into the "bulking up" step. My plans are to be more cut than ripped.

I have researched a little, and I am planning to take 5g creatine 30 minutes before workout, and 5g creatine 30 minutes after. I plan to take these 10g of creatine for a month, then take one month off, and so on.

I am also going to add protein ontop of the creatine.

The question is - Does my plan sound good / safe? And also, how much protein would you recommend and when?

This is a question you should ask your doctor who knows your medical history and who is qualified, trained, and licensed to give medical advice. People on this site are not. Good luck!!

The protein part of the diet seems good and I wouldn't overdo it on that but the creatine part is totally unnecessary. Your body naturally creates creatine and if you disrupt that, it will stop making it due to the supplements that you would be taking in. When you stop taking them, it can cause some serious problems. First of all, it is a natural substance that is made by the body, since your body would have stopped making it, it won't have any nor will it make anymore (at least for a while) and then you have to be very carefule with your workouts. Did you know why players in the NFL do not take it anymore? The players that were taking it were more susceptable to muscle damage and tears. You do not want this to happen to you. Also, too much protein intake can also be damaging so you better be careful. Too much protein can cause a problem with the pH in your blood and you can go through what is called alkalosis. Remember the main thing here, they are just supplements and should be taken very seriously. If you keep up a good weight training routine tailored to muscle mass increase and eat more than 3 times a day, 5-6 is healthy, of well balanced meals then you should be just fine. Check on the net to learn more about creatine through the medical publications of research. Good luck and I trust you will do the right thing.

I take both creatine and whey protein shakes. I've been working out on a heavy schedule for about 2 years and have received awesome results. This is what I recommend from experience.
Drink one Whey Protein shake before workout the drink should be at least 20g of protein also make sure the protein shake has Whey Protein Isolate in it otherwise it wont help you at all.
After you slug that down take 5g of creatine before workout.
Try to eat good before you work out also pasta is the best for the carbs.
After working out drink another protein shake and take 5g of creatine again.
It is fine if you take the creatine for a month and then take a month off it should not affect your kidneys or liver. It's also good to go week by week. Take 10g a day for a week then the next week off and so on. I also recommend taking the Creatine Ethyl Ester (Pill Form) to me it seems like it works better and it is not as hard on the kidneys. All of the things you need you can get at walmart.
Here's a easier to read schedule.

-Before Workout-
-20g Protein Shake
-5g Creatine
-Eat tons of carbs
-Wait around 20-30 mins. before you start working out

-Work Out Session-

-After Work Out-
-20g Protein Shake
-5g Creatine
-Rest
