I've just found out that Apple Store in the UK also sells refurbished iPod Nano. Apple defines 'refurbished products' as "pre-owned Apple products that undergo Apple's stringent refurbishment process prior to being offered for sale."

What do you think? Is it a good idea to buy this iPod?

I bought my iPod new and had my hard drive completely die on me after 6 months or so. I took it into the Apple store and they gave me a replacement right there on the spot, no questions. The replacement is refurbished and I have not had any problems with it, and it looked like new.

So, if you buy it new or old, once it breaks you can always get a new one if within the time frame of the warranty.

Definitely - there's no reason not to buy refurbished, so long as it comes from the Apple Store and no third party places. You will receive a full year's warranty. If there are any problems with it when it arrives, they will replace it for you.

I would definately buy 80GB iPods are going for 170-190 on ebay and they are used so for 169 for a factory refurb. I would defineatly do it. Plus its coming direct from Apple and has a warranty.

Pre-owned products have never given me trouble, and most of the time it's like a free 20% discount than actually being a used item. I'd say go for it, especially if the discount is alot.

if you can't afford a new new one, then maybe... what is the price difference? is there a warranty? i'd be wary if it weren't from the actual apple store, but i think i'd buy a refurbished one from the apple shop if the price was right..

Sounds a good idea. I would check to see what warranty you are offered and make your choice against a new one. They are cheap enough now
