Probably around 1,000 dollars. I still buy for my 3 kids and entire intermediate family on hubbys and my side.

$700 for 2 kids, 2 parents, food, presents for relatives, cards - the whole shabang, Christmas tree decorations - that's maxing out the budget and I can't go beyond it - because that would be negligent on paying the bills and keeping that emergency fund intact! I often find it laughable that I get a book from Toys R Us telling me that if I spend $500 I'll get 10% off - like my budget on toys as gifts for 1 holiday should be $500??? I don't even spend that much in a year on toys alone. WOW - I don't know about anybody else, but my hard earned paychecks don't just grow on trees to harvest anytime I like!

im in australia last year i spent $1200 on presents and about $500 on christmas tree and decorations and $600 on food. So about 2300 in total i thought that was sensible but this year things are different i have a baby girl now and i have to play it a little more low key. But it will still be nice.

$1,000, and I buy gifts all year round, as I see or think about them. I just love buying and giving gifts. What's the point of money, I think, if I can't make people happy with it?

But since I can't make my wife or myself happy by going into debt, I'm careful. I spend as I can afford and expect everyone else to understand that.

$4,000 is ridiculous. (for the average person with average income) a couple hundred dollars is the most i've spent.
