Dextrose (also called D-glucose, melting point 146degC) is made up of covalently bonded molecules in the molten state and so is an electrical nonconductor. Sodium propionate (also called propanoate, m.p. 285-286degC) consists of sodium ions and propionate ions in the melt and so would conduct electricity.
