You're either leaking or burning! No other option! Check gaskets, oil pan and drain plug, radiator from head gasket leaks, around the bell housing for rear seal leak, front crankshaft pully area for front seal leak etc. Unless someone is removing the oil for whatever their reason, it has to be a leak or burning! I had one with a sending unit on the back side of the engine that someone had hit with the oil filter wrench and cracked. Took some time to find that one but when changed it was definitely the culprit! Oil leak stopped completely! Tripping Billies internal gasket problem is not possible because anywhere in the engine the oil can get back to the pan and if not it would be burned and of course you'd see it!

I had the same problem in a Toyota Corolla- second hand and somewhat neglected by the previous driver. The problem seemed to be in the cylinder fittings- the oil leaked into the cylinders. Not enough to smoke, but enough to empty the oil pan in less than 10 000 kilometres. At that time I used synthetic oil. Switching to mineral oil seems to do the trick- it is more dense and less likely to leak through.
Sure, I could do a complete engine overhaul, or even a new set of cylinder rings. However, considering the cost, I figure trying a different engine oil is worth the effort. So far, so good.

Pick up a leak test kit from your autoparts store and run it though the motor. it will tell you if you are leaking at the gaskets. Other wise the oil is being burned as you are going down the street. the oil has to go somewhere. Have you checked the radiator to see if there may be oil in it? Fords are known for head gasket problems.

If you are loosing oil,it is either leaking or burning it,it doesn't evaporate. You may not be able to see it smoking when you are going 55 mph.

It probably is leaking. It just only leaks when it's running, so you never see a puddle. Rear main seals are like that.
