Hi, I have been going for 4 years now. My first time that I went, they did a urine test (which is nothing more than a pregnancy test) you just peepee in a cup and they do the rest. Then, they drew blood from me, to test for any STDs u may have and do not know about. Then, you go into the room with the doctor and they give u a gown and tell u to take off all of ur clothes except for ur socks and put on that gown. They step out of the room and let u get it on. Then, the doctor will come back in and usually a nurse will be with him. The doctor will tell u to lay back and he will examine u vaginally. It doesnt hurt.....just sometimes his little instrument is a little cold. It only takes like 5 mintues. He just takes a Q-tip lookin thing and swabs ur uterus and cervix. Once again its not painful. Then they usually check ur breasts for lumps to make sure u dont have any because that can lead to breast cancer. Then they step out....u get dressed. And ur free to leave. They will call u back a couple days later and let u know how ur swabbing went and ur blood test scores. Theres nothing to it really. If its anything....then its just a little embarassing. If u still need more info or u want to talk about it with me, then feel free to email me or IM me on yahoo messenger.

First, don't be scared..its quick, fast, and walah, you are done. lol Pretty much they will make you get into a doctor nightgown thing *yes you must get naked*, at least they made me, each gyno is different..then they will ask about your family medical history. The gyno will check out down there and do this test, where they put a stick and take a sample, I can't seem to remember it..(papsmear? hm, I dunno, sorry, lol) They will feel your breast to make sure that there are no lumps, and then they may ask if you want to be on birth control. I hope all is well, and don't worry. It lasts probably 10 mins max.

Don't let any of this scare you, it's not supposed to be scary, but it CAN be a little uncomfortable if you are shy like me. He/She will make you undress and put on that lovely backless hospital gown, then you'll lay down on the table, scootch your but to the very edge, and place your feet in stirrups, then the get this light thingy and shine in between your legs and start your pap smear, they will insert a (slightly cold) metal instrument and lightly scrape the inside of your walls with a stick to check your pelvic area. Then they will stick a lubed finger inside, and feel your belly from the outside and push inward with just the slightest bit of pressure. then they remove their hand and you're done with that part, then they may feel your breasts for some lumps and talk to you about getting on the pill. Once again DONT LET IT SCARE YOU, IT'S NORMAL! :) Good Luck, Be Brave!

Expect another person, nurse, to be in the room for an internal examine. Always a must. The dr. should also let you know what they are doing and why. A good dr. communicates each step. Depending on what you are having done, relax and share your feelings or pains with the dr. Communicate is key

The doctor will speak to you about your overall health and sexual history, if any. Most likely you'll be given a physical exam so the doctor can determine that everything is in the right place and "working normally". If you're uncomfortable with it, you can request a nurse to be in the examining room with you during the exam. It only takes a few minutes.
