Yes, because he got rid of Grendel and that dragon thing, even though he did it in hubris and only wanted fame. But then again, that did reflect Anglo-Saxon culture, and they were obsessed with that stuff, so yeah, Beowulf was a hero.

If he had been a hero to us he would have been insane to them.
