All these issues about immigrants in our country, im not racists but i dont agree with people comeing here because they can get paid for not working and get a free house. This is what some of them do, i know because my friend was seeing a guy who came here because life was bad where he lived, there was no work in his country and he had to live on the streets untill he managed to get enough money to come to Britain. He was claiming jobseekers, was entitled to a flat and housing benifit ,didnt contact the electric people so he lived free for the time he was here. This is a big strain on our government but nothing is being done to stop this happening time and time again. I wonder how long this is going to continue

The rich do it all the time. Since Bush seized power, we have socialism for the rich and free-enterprise for the rest of us.

I don't think that you are necessarily stealing from the government but from the taxpayers themselves....they are the ones that fund the government with the money that is provided for these programs. I think that it's terrible that people do that....and what about those individuals who genuinely need the help but don't get it because there are people that don't need it that are receiving the benefits. I am a minority born in the US myself and it's pathetic that people actually do this - it gives minorities a bad name and makes people have assumptions and come up with preconceived notions.

Lindyloo, This is only one of thousands and thousands , living here for free , sponging of the British Taxpayer , Aided and Abetted by the Filthy "Politically Correct" , and a Rotten Government that is quite content to see Pensioners living below the poverty line , who can,t afford to heat and light their homes , pay for the simple everyday necessities of life , denying patients life saving drugs and medication , closing hospitals and care units , stealing the nations pensions , which have been worked for and subscribed to for their working life, increasing taxes daily , in one form or another , Demeaning and Suppressing the indigenous population,s right to Free Speech , Thought and Action in favour of every Sponging Low Life which chooses to enter our country and take advantage of all our Social Services .This Government has chosen to turn on it,s own people who gave them their trust and hope at the last Election. They are busy filling their own pockets on a daily basis , living free and awarding themselves obscene pensions and expenses in addition to their massive salaries , in exchange for wrecking our country and the Lives of the population . When , if ever , will the country benefit from Honourable , Truthfull and Genuine Politicians instead of a Bunch of Lying , Cheating , Double Dealing Bastards , ?????????

Unfortunately the system is being abused by people from and who come to this country. It will come to an end when there is nothing left in the pot.

The system seems to ignore the people who work hard to sustain it. It feels like more people are taking from benefits then giving back into it. Why do you think that there will be no pensions for people who have worked all their lives. And why we also have to work to an older age, and still have nothing for it.

If the system is used correctly then it is essential for people who are in real hardship.

I was raised to work hard for everything i earn, to be proud of myself. I've claimed benefits when i was briefly out of work. But i made sure i obtained employment to start paying my way again.

There will come a stage when us workers can no longer fund the out of workers.

Yes it is. The goverment is busy trying to steal our freedoms at the moment under the pretext of security from terrorists so I will happily steal off them.
In answer to the immigration point, why not put yourself in their shoes, if you were in fear of your life or just so poor you could not eat wouldn't you want to move to a country were you could work and live free and not in constant terror. I know i would and so would you so don't moan about human nature and be thankful you live in a country where you can afford a PC to ask these questions

No, it is NOT OK for anyone to steal from the government! It is equally NOT OK for the big wigs in Washington to think up ways of letting in illegals for cheap labor to steal from the hardworking tax payers who put them in office!
The issue of illegals is one very big issue that is going to hurt the Republicans! I don't know how many years I have been writing the White House about the issue of our unprotected borders and ports! Just when are they going to get it?

You can't really steal from the government. When you do, you are stealing from every working person in America. The government is simply "the people."

You know, it's "We, the people...", not "We, the government..." If people could get that through their heads, they'd stop voting Democrat. Government handouts are simply stealing from someone who does something and giving it to someone who does nothing.

If someone is receiving something from the government that they aren't entitled to then they are committing fraud & it should be reported. However, if your government is like ours (USA) not much will be done about minor frauds such as this because, quite simply, there aren't enough employees to do the job. Governmental staffing is cut to the bone -- & beyond.

My friend works in a UK Housing Department for a local council and she says it's sickening what's going on with immigrants - the male comes over to work, then he brings his wife and children over and claims tax credits, housing benefit, child benefit and just about everything they can get their hands on.

There are videos abroad showing people how to get to the UK and how to claim benefits when they get here. And yes America we are only the size of one third of your State of Texas!

it is not the government they are stealing from, but the working class as myself. and as for your question being a big strain on our government its not a big strain in any way to the government, but to the working class people.
Did you know their are more immigrants working in our country illegally than legally. i say good luck to those working in our country legally.
