The Democrats ran on I am against George Bush and getting out of Iraq! How long after Nancy Pelosi takes over before we leave Iraq? Especially since America said so.

Seems like some of you that voted yesterday, voted for Democrats because they said they would bring the troops home. Or at least thats what the exit polls say. So when are we leaving? Chuck Schumer said it would be atleast 3 years.

I'd hate to tell anyone who wishes to leave Iraq, but in reality; we ain't go in anywhere anytime soon. Sorry. If we withdraw that place will become a cesspool of terror where terrorists can plan attacks, and if they succeed; people will call for the Dem's heads on a platter for pulling out.

Beyond that, Dem's really do care about winning this war, and won't withdraw. Not to mention the fact that Bush is the head of the military and no matter what the Dem's want, if Bush wants to stay its his choice and no one else's. The Dem's could try to impeach him, but it will never pass- even if he were impeached in a Dem controlled house (which won't happen) Dem's don't have the support in the senate.

Sorry guys; the Dem's sold you a bill of goods. But look on the bright side; if we make Iraq work it'll really pay off in the future.

Sadly, probably far too soon. Hezbollah's leader is already making comparisons to Vietnam to energize his followers.

We were in Germany and Japan for over twenty years before they were stable, and started becoming the two most successful economies on earth (after ours). We STILL have bases in each of them, and each truly fears our departure.

Further, German "werewolves" carried out bombings and attacks for a decade after WWII, but our media did not carry out a campaign to demoralize the population and undermine the nation and the troops. Sadly, today, we do not have a media that wants American successes. Failures sell more newspapers, so that is what they strive for.

If I were in charge, I'd do my best to make sure that we had a commanding presence there for a generation, not only to ensure the future success, health and welfare for the Iraqis, but also to keep the Iranian president concerned about using nuclear weapons against Israel, as he is promising to do.

Leaving Iraq before Iran stops such threats is stunningly short-sighted, and will quickly lead to the deaths of many Iraqis, Israelis, and other innocents worldwide.

Apparently, Democrats think that's okay, as long as they are not to blame for it. (If blame is to be assigned, they'll simply shrug and say it was Bush's fault for putting us there in the first place. How so many voters can fall for this kind of simplistic thinking is beyond me.)

Though they have the majority, Democrats still don't really have the power to make such big changes. If they'd picked up more senate seats than they did, it'd be more of a possibility, but even if they take Virginia as it looks they will, I don't see either side getting much accomplished these next two years.

I just read on: www.armytimes.com and Militarytimes that pulling out of Iraq right now would be devastating. It would cause chaos and undo everything we have been trying to do over there. There is a wonderful video on that website called Boots on the Ground. I encourage everybody to view it.

To "get out of Iraq" now would be the end of security in our own homes and work places as we know it...all it means is we may have our soldiers back, but they will be fighting the war on terrorism on US soil.

I think we will still be there for a while. No one gets sworn in till January. And then it will take some time to get plans together. I imagine we won't be completely out till this coming summer, at the earliest.
