When should I start Ovulation test?

I have purchased an ovulation kit because I am not sure when I ovulate. I have a approximately a 30 day cycle - some months its 29 and some its 28 but mostly its 30.... some info says start testing on day 14 of my cycle (I have 5 sticks) some say day 11 - I don't want to miss it or waste sticks by testing too early - the tests are EXPENSIVE -
So Today is day 12. Tempted to start testing today. Also, monitoring my cervical mucous - yesterday ws clear and slippery today is thicker and a bit white - not sticky/stretchy like "egg white" though....

Your answers are helpful and encouraging .....Maybe we should just "do the dance" today just in case and I can start testing tomorrow....Please keep answering....

I live in canada and things on ebay often take a month or so to get to me - i will buy on ebay if nothing happens this month BUT really hope to conceive THIS month!

I'll just try to share my experience. I have 28-30 days cycle and according to ovulation tests I am supposed to start on day 11. I did so, but there were not any even slightly positive results till the day 13. So, I would advise you to start at about day 12-13. You might want to wait for one additinal day, yet, in such case there is a chance to miss the best time. Good Luck.

I too have a 30 day cycle and bought an ovulation kit as well. It said to start testing on day 14 for 30 day cycles so I did, but the test said I wasn't ovulating yet :( Tested again on day 15 and still no surge. Started to get peed off because I thought that I might have tested to late and missed it, so I tested again on day 16 and what do you know.... two similar blue lines, which was definitely right because I'm now 7 weeks pregnant. I know those things are aggravating to use, but don't get discouraged. Keep it up and before you know you'll be expecting. Good luck!

Just take those things back to the store. Theyre useless. Go on ebay and buy some ovulation strips from a medical whole saler. You can get about 50 for 20 bucks. Its way more worth it because you can test every day for a couple cycles.

I did it and they worked great.

A lot of women simply dont ovulate on or near day 14, its just part of life :) testing for 5 days trying to hit the right day is IMPOSSIBLE.

Actually today is the perfect day to start testing. The ovulation kit box itself usually tells you when to start. I always start my ovulation test on day 10.

go on eBay and find some ovulation strips they are a
lot cheaper a friend of mine takes her temperature and when her body is at the highest temp. she does the test and she is usually ovulating. try it nothing to lose
