Welfare is a system set up by the activities by the social (1948 Beverage Report )democrats and acting like a social cement holding society together . It is based on the idea logy that the government should ensure the right of every citizen to be free from poverty and receive health and services on the need rather than the ability to pay . Welfare was deemed to be available for those who are deemed not having a sufficient income to live on , have a disability ,the unemployed and those suffering from long term illness . It is to be equal to all members of society but opinions of the general public and government vary who should receive benefits and who should not are numerable.

welfare is a term that encompasses all types of government financial assistance, including employment insurance and veteran benefits.

It is generally used as a term to mean money that goes to people who do not qualify for any other aid and do not make enough money to survive. A single mom may go on welfare because she needs to look after her kids at home and cant work. Welfare has developed a bad reputation because many people abuse the system and never leave, althought the welfare system makes it hard for people to leave. A woman with 2 kids may not make enough money at an entry level job to support her family, but welfare will cut off assistance anyway because she is working.

Workfare is a type of welfare where they make you work to collect your cheque. This has been shown to not lead to employment because employers do not have to pay people on Workfare (the gov't does). Few people would choose to pay their free labour.

Welfare is for poor people who cannot afford to take care of themselves. The money that is given to them comes out of your paycheck. Some people that are on welfare work but then there are others who don't and take advantage of the system so they can sit on their behinds all day watching Jerry Springer.

A governmental policy instituted by Democratic administration to pay people who are struggling. It was started during the Great Depression and was not supposed to be held over forever.

The belief that is widely held by conservatives is that by keeping Welfare in place, you are growing a generation of people with no drive to better themselves and "get off the dole".

It is the two families that lived next to me in my old neighborhood, after purchasing my 1st home I didn't realize my neighbors (majority) were welfare recipients (Section 8). They had their kid's (which were fostered to make more money) gang-bangin buddies over everyday, couldn't let my kids go out and play. Left trash outside of their house eventually picked up by myself because they wouldn't do it, didn't want my house to look filthy on the outside, you get the picture...pure laziness is the result of these recipients.
