When you are communicating nonverbally you are using your attiitude, facial expressions, and hands or other body parts to express how you feel or what you want to say.To make a statement without speaking, is to use body language. For instance; your mom tells you to wash the dishes after dinner... you sigh and roll your eyes... you didn't verbally say anything, but the way you expressed yourself shows that you were aggravated and unhappy... it shows that you were not willing to wash the dishes. Verbally you may have expressed yourself differently. You may had told your mom that you didn't feel like it or ask why you had to do it. That still distinguishes the fact that you would prefer not to do the dishes and it angers you that you have to. Now if you're around superior persons you may react a little differently but with the same message. Say your teacher at school assumes you cheated on a homework assignment. She may as you a question from the homework assignment to see if you really knew it or if you just copied it from a classmate. When she asks you a question you stare back at her with wide-eyes and make gestures with your hands that make you appear fidgety. Those are body languages that express that you are in a state of panic. Verbally you could tell her that you don't like being put on the spot or tell her you're feeling bullied by her always asking you the questions. This verbally expresses that you are in a panic and that you don't really know the answer, so you're avoiding answering the question. The difference in nonverbal and verbal communication for the two different audiences are that in a relaxed situation you are more at ease to express how you feel, more open about it. However, in a tense situation, expressing how you feel or what you want to say becomes more difficult and has different consequences. The similarities between the two are, regardless of verbal or nonverbal, your feelings and your thoughts were expressed through your body language or your words and understood clearly by the audiences who were receiving them.

The concepts that are involved are pretty well-established, talked-about concepts, so you will probably find tons of material, even might have websites contrasting verbal/nonverbal communication If not, you just have to think a little bit more. I'm sure all human beings are capable of that

Basically, verbal is what you hear and non-verbal is what you see. If someone is lying to you, the verbal would be the words they are actually saying. If, however, that person is sweating and blinking their eyes much more than normal (like a"nervous tic") their non-verbal "body language' is telling you they are lying. Other non-verbal clues are rather a person leans toward you, or away from you. Any excess movement of limbs, such as the constant tapping of a toe, communicates the person is nervous for some reason! A raised eyebrow obviously means the person doesn't think too much of what you said, or doesn't think much of you!
