I FULLY support random locker checks, as well as those that are done based on suspicion of wrongdoing.

A student's locker is not there to provide "privacy", but instead to store their books and appropriate school-related items.

When I was a teen, I thought locker searches were invasive, against my rights and that they stunk.

But now, I see the reasoning behind it. And the very most important reason is that teens need to learn the difference between your own property and someone elses.

The lockers are not "yours/ours" they are the property of the taxpayers of the state you are in. As such, (not your personal property) your use of the locker could not be construed as protected personal property (ie requiring a warrant to search). The owners or custodians (teachers) of the schools & taxpayers property, have the right to search the lockers for the better safety of the entire student body and the property too.

Get used to it, the Supreme Court has ruled that any property owned by another person or company, like your desk and locker at work, cannot be considered your own property. In a few years when you are working, keep in mind that your boss owns everything within the office/business. That includes the phone service and internet service. No employee can assume that their bosses items are private to the employee.

Everything you do and everywhere you keep stuff at school, and at your job, can be monitored or searched. That is just the way it is.

Be sure and check spelling before you hand your project in.

Yes, teachers should have the right to check your lockers at any time. The locker does not "belong" to you, it belongs to the school.

In this day, with Columbine and some of the other more recent events, we must be able to protect our students in the school environment.

I would uphold anyone's right to privacy, but as we are hearing more and more lately, its for the greater good.

Lockers are property of the school and should be checked frequently for anything that could be a threat to the school and the students. If you have nothing to hide then you won't mind having your locker looked at. It's those who bring guns, knives and bomb making materials to school that make others suffer.

When you are given a locker in school, or many other places, you are subject to the legal term, " creates no bailment ", which in effect means you use the space, but have no right over it. So it does not matter what I think; the locker is not your property and is subject to the school policy.

Yes they should because you never know what people have in their lockers. And it will keep the students safer....someone could have a gun. But if people disagree with it then they must have something to hide...Don't keep stuff that you don't want to get in trouble for.

i support random locker checks, as long as they don't take away our mp3 player or cell phone. if it's in your locker, it means you're storing it for after class.
