Do you think that if the horrific racially motivated attack and ultimate murder of the white Glasgow teenager by three Asians was reversed, i.e. three white men killed an Asian teenager, there would have been more of a hoo ha?

Too right there would be more of a hoo ha!
The problem seems to stem from an area in Glasgow called Pollokshields in which there seems to have developed a Pakistani Ghetto.

This ghetto area is effectively a no-go area for Whites. According to police chief on channel 4 news his officers "pussyfoot" around this area afraid to challenge individuals in case a riot is caused.
Local youths and older criminals play the "race card" to effectively raise themselves above the law.
Unfortunately for the vast majority of peaceful asians living in Glasgow there may be repercussions for the murder of a 15yr old by three grown men.

If we live in a tolerant and equal society all citizens must be treated equally. This is obviously not the case in parts of Pollokshields Glasgow. No one should be above the law.

In my mind the fact that the three of them fled the country to escape justice is an admission of guilt.
Thankfully the authorities in Pakistan returned the Murderers to Britain to face court.

Justice Has been Done!

Good question. (My husband's family is from a place just outside of Glasgow, Scotland.. Stirling)

And even in North America we have this problem its even worse here (If I dare say so) Here in New Bruswick, Canada we have to give all the scholarships to the French or we're being racists. Our government has to give them everything they ask for... Or we're being racists. It's gotten to the point that all the classes in the English school have 33 students sometimes more. Meanwhile, in the French schools they have a typical MAX of 24 students per class.

On the internet and in the media (hip-hop music/movies) I find many African American people make race an issue. To the point on a baby site if you say you don't like the name LaShanti Jezikah you're a "stupid, racist, white b****!" (Not kidding, the girl asked what people though of the name and I asked her I how to pronounce it and that I though it sounded a little bit ghetto)

How long will it take until the world realises that the only people who are getting recognised for being racist are caucasians? How long will it take until the world realises ANY person can be racist?

I was part of the STAR Commitee in high school (Students Together Against Racism) and that was the first thing they taught us.

I am so sick of all these people using race as a blanket to trash the society our ancesters fought so hard to protect. And they probably will get away with it. I wish the world would wake up! Caucasians haven't been the main racists for at LEAST the last 15 years!

There is a lot of press coverage for white attacks on other races.I honestly think it would have received the shame coverage due to the shocking nature of the attack. They were adults,he was an innocent child.

They took it way to far,to find the first white boy and then torture him, especially a kid is out of order.Immature to say the least.Attacks like this prove how much races struggle to associate with each other and how much tension there really is.Governments all around the world though try to paint over the cracks.

The way I look at it is there are people I get on with from every race, and also people I dislike from every race. There is nothing wrong being proud of your race & culture but you should also be mature and civilised enough to respect other's heritage & race.

To be honest, I doubt that there would be a big "hoo ha" over three white men killing an Asian. The death of the white teenager may not have received as much coverage as expected, but there are many, many hate crimes against Asians that receive little to no publicity.

The last time that I read something in an Asian newspaper involving a hate crime was when some men sent threatening letters to Asian Americans and killed them a while later, and the story had not been covered by our city's local newspaper. Perhaps, this works both ways. American newspapers are, in my opinion, less likely to publish articles involving hate crimes against Asian Americans, and Asian newspapers are less likely to publish articles involving hate crimes against whites.

To be fair, the Ben Kinsella case wasn't racist. If he had been Black, they would have done the exact same thing. No racial slurs were said or anything like that, unlike the Anthony Walker case. I agree with you about the Glasgow case though. That was a racial attack but the press didn't really seem to mention the racist element all that much whereas if it had been White men killing a Pakistani and then making racist remarks it would have been front page news (like Steven Lawrence etc.)

I don't fully understand what you are asking but from wht I gather, I disagree.

It is usual that racial attacks in the UK are more commonly committed by white men against ethnic minorities. Even so, media coverage of such attacks seem to be the same and the investigations are equal.

You are right. The murder on Kriss Donald was horrific, and the way in which he was killed seemed to have brought it much further into the media spotlight.

This can be a very deep arguement. Racists are not just white. They come from all walks of life.

I think there would have been Asians rioting in the streets of the WHOLE OF THE UK !
How can a city like Glasgow be taken over by an Asian gang that could not even be kept in check by their own elders !
I don't understand it even the police was according to the press acting with caution !

Yeah, i think we should do what they would do. Have a riot and shout about racism a lot. It's like everything else though, race working in their favour cos they know that the authorities won't make a race issue of it being against a white man. Their defence will probably be something along the lines of 'he was being racist towards me so i killed him'. And no doubt get away with it.

Good Question,

What they did was so disgusting they will be tried and sentence however, how sad it is as wrong as it is we must find it in ourselves to let it go! as our hate would bring more mindless killing and I hope that is not what you want!

WILL THERE EVER COME A DAY WHEN PEOPLE WILL BE JUDGED ON THE CONTENT OF THEIR CHARACTER AND NOT THE COLOUR OF THEIR SKIN!

This attack was horrendous and the perpetrators are animals. I think life should mean life and they should be in solitary confinement for the entire time so they can think long and hard about their actions!

I think the same of Stephen Lawrence' killers and the same of the animal who shot 7 year old Terri-Ann in the back! ( he was a black man)

ALL animals regardless of colour. What the press do and do not print isn't the issue, its why these attacks are happening and i dont think ANY race can be held above another in terms of atrocities on their fellow man. Learn your history!!

Judging by the thumbs down im getting, this is just a qtn for racist peopl to be more racist. Your hatred and ignorance helps no one, least of all yourselves. Good luck to ya!
