i read in dear abby (yeah, i know) that single men who are "ex jocks" gay bash more than anyone, but married people never do. it doesn't make sense to me, so i'm curious to know if it's true or not.

I think you will find that the majority of gay bashers are men and women who try to bash it out of others because they can't get it out of themselves.

sad but true

the harder the line, the more gay they are

Most men will do this (married or single) in a group of other men. That's the key: other men.

And yes, sports people do this a lot. It's part of locker room trash talk. They also take it outside the locker room and gay bash anyone who does not fit their sports jock image, whether the guy in question is gay, bi, or straight. Oh, and by the way, many coaches and male athletes are secretly gay themselves. I would say, however, that a good number of them are bisexual.

It would depend on your definition of "gay-bashing". To me it's physically assaulting a person because they're gay. Some people include making very homophobic remarks as gay-bashing. I think the vast majority of gay bashers are young single men. I rarely, if ever, have heard of married people or women doing this. To me these guys that constantly make disparaging remarks about gay people or beat them up are really self-loathing, paranoid closet queens. Truly straight people, even though some may be uncomfortable with gay people and disapprove of homosexuality, usually don't sit around and make constant anti-gay remarks or assault them. If they do then me thinks they doth protest too much.

I agree in part that some single guys and gals gay bash but so do some married folks.
The single guys do it more for show and to keep up with their group but when they are by themselves they don't do it so much.
But once you get a pack of guys together-no matter if single or not- and they select a target-watch out. The pack mentality takes over and they are worst then sharks.

I'm married. I never gay bash. One of my friends is also married and she gay bashes - I think it's because she's homophobic. I think people are more likely to gay bash if they generally have a low tolerance or even if they're unsure about their own sexuality.

Women aren't impressed by that sort of thing, as a rule, and hetero-married guys have commitments to their wives, children, etc. Plus they're likely to be older and more settled. I bet single guys who don't like being single are also rather insecure about it, and they'd hold up their wives as trophies once they got one. (Feel very sorry for the wives, then!)

Single people. I think they are really concerned about being confused as gay. They are the ones that say it loud and clear, just to let you know, they're straight. lol
Ohhhh! and I hate the term, "that's so gay". We went to a resturaunt the other day and had to fill out memberships to drink. The waitress said to us, "I know, that's so gay, but we have to have it."
I said, "You know, it's not nearly as gay as us."

i dunno about that, but if in fact that is the case maybe its some to do with married men having more yin/yang balance. lessening the desire for hostility. they are also a bit more familiar with womens shoes therefor more aware of how bad getting beat bloody with the pointy end of a pump would hurt.

long live the queen!

its because women suck all the brain cells out of men rendering them incapable of bashing anyone
