You are allowed to work in america if you either have a workers Visa or a work permit... find out from your attorney or however you got over here what kind of permit you have.

In the meantime, here is a link to a website that you can make some cash from. I don't think you have to have any form of ID... If you give it a good two or three hours a day, you will probably make about $100 a week... which isn't bad at all. It's pretty simple, it is a website just like Myspace and Yahoo Answers put together and because they are trying to promote their site, they are paying people just for using it! You cant do what you are saying. An employer can only get a visa for you if they can prove that no one in america has your skills. They need to hire a lawyer to do this and right now the next H visas will not be available until october next year. An individual cant apply for themselves someone else must do it. In the employers case it costs around 10k in fees etc. So unless you are a PHD Chemist with a history of drug patents you dont stand a chance. And like I said you would have to wait in your own country till october next year and do all the interviews with the embassy there. Overstay your visa and its a 10 year ban.

If you have a students visa (F1) you can work for 20 hours on campus.
On a work visa you can work full time (H1, L1 etc)

Any other visa it is illegal to work for pay.
