As long as you didn't consume the roach get sick and die, you have no type of lawsuit. Write the company and explain in detail how you found the roach when you opened up the can of peas. I am sure they will, in turn, check their quality control, and see if any other such complaints have been received. The company will more than likely send you coupons(s) toward a new can of fresh peas.

How about instead of trying to sue for money you don't deserve you just throw away the roach and peas and buy a different brand next time. Americans are sue-crazy and you heard about all these people with rats in their Egg McMuffins so you want some free cash too. Don't be a part of the problem.

The roach almost certainly got in there after the tin was opened. Otherwise the roach would have had to have been cooked with the peas.
I saw the defense of the soda cannery when they were accused of having left a hypodermic in a tin of soda. The film of the canning process wiped out the claim: the tins are inverted until the moment of filling.
On the other hand, your grocer will give you a free tin, or a refund.
My wife did, in fact, find a dirty sticking plaster (Band-Aid™ bandage) in a Chinese restaurant's fortune cookie. She threw it away. More seriously, several members of our family got salmonella in another Chinese restaurant. They denied everything. Our time is too valuable to waste fighting for the lottery of tort.
Get a life. We did.

go back to the grocery store and ask for a refund. Give them the can with the roach. Don't be sue happy. It's not like you ate it or anything.

If you do a little research you will find that the FDA allows a certain amount of insects and rodent hairs in processed food.
which is why I don't eat processed foods at all, I only eat seasonal fresh veggies and the like.
