Because they always do. They raise taxes, so companies have less money to hire people. They raise the minimum wage, and companies can't hire as many people. They don't encourage small businesses to start. They believe that everyone should be dependent on the government.

Usually when you raise the the minimum wages you affect small businesses because as a small business owner you have 3 choices 1.you take a pay cut 2. raise prices. 3 cut the number of employees 1 is out of the question so you are left with 1& 2 The real reason why Democratic party wants to raise the minimum wage is for the unions not for the little guy only about 5% of workers make minimum wage and most of those are teenagers. Most union contracts are tied to the minimun wage, let's say you are in a union and the contract states you have to make $12hr over minimum wage thats roughly $17.50 if the minimum wages go to $7.50 everyone in the union making $17.50 will automatically go to $19.50 so you automatically get a pay raise and this bumps everyone up on the pay scale which leads to higher prices or higher unemployment or both. I hope this will help you understand why the unions are in bed with the democratic party.

Democrat policies are hostile to taxpayers and businesses. This increases the cost of doing business and forces businesses to cut costs and be more efficient to survive. If labor costs go up entrepreneuers will cut back on hiring and find ways to get the work done with fewer workers. Also, business taxes and personal taxes reduce incomes and reduced spending means less demand and squeezes marginal jobs out out of the market. Low income people get hurt the most. Simple economics.

Take a look back and you answer your own question. Stop and think, just why is it that the Dems take over every 14 yrs or so? And then lose again to the Republicans?for another 14 yrs? Wake up people!

Raising minimum wage forces small businesses to close and big businesses won't hire as many, the big guys can survive and handle it, but to keep up profits they will raise prices. That is what has happened in the past. Will History repeat itself once again?

As usual, this is another of the scare tactics that neo-cons love to employ. The reasoning is that the Dems will push for a higher minimum wage and that will force employers to cut jobs. The reality is that raising the minimum wage give folks more money to spend and the facts show that it actually increases the number of jobs.
