The Rhythm method is fairly effective and in that system your fertile window is about 3-4 days on either side of ovulation. Ovulation starts typically 14 days after a period.

If you are worried about getting pregnant, you should, however, resolve those worries by agreeing on issues of birth control, and when to have children with your mate. Otherwise having sex is asking to complicate and possibly damage your relationship.
