History is funny. Guess which happens to be the oldest known international sports match - a match between two countries? And I am talking about ALL SPORTS - not cricket.
The Canada vs. USA cricket match, played since the 1840s, was attended by 10,000 spectators at Bloomingdale Park in New York. This cricket match is the oldest international sporting event in the modern world, predating even today's Olympic Games by nearly 50 years.
So this qualifies also as the first ever international criciket match.
The USA also sent touring sides abroad. It achieved its greatest success when a national USA side defeated the West Indies by nine wickets in an international match in British Guyana in the 1880s
Cricket declined in the USA in the 20th century because in the late 1800s it had remained a strictly amateur elite sport at the same time that England, then Australia, were developing a professional system that allowed full-time players to participate.
But as cricket standards improved elsewhere in the world by becoming semi-professional and then fully professional, many North American cricket clubs stayed stubbornly elitist…abandoning cricket, they converted their facilities to recreations like golf and tennis.

They already have a crew that competes around the international and has tried to qualify for the international cup yet wasnt powerful. There crew is made up in many cases of foreigners, from the west indies and some different international places. likely more effective off sticking to baseball except they could get extra people occupied with attempting to augment cricket.

Funny, I was just thinking about this the other day. I think we could have a fantastic cricket team, at least for batting. If some of the best baseball players learned the differences in batting for cricket, I bet they could have many sixes. We should totally do it.

The US cricket team certainly is not made up of any indigenous cricketers. It has Indians, Carribeans, Pakistanis, Srilankans and Australians who moved to the US for purposes otehr than cricket. They have no chance of making to the top league if their domestic structure is as crappy as it is right now!
