IT'S A LITTLE TOO LATE FOR THAT. THEY ARE KILLING THEMSELVES. THEY ARE IN THE MIDDLE OF A CIVIL WAR AND WE'RE NOT GOING TO STOP IT.

Guess what? No matter how long we stay in Iraq, we will eventually leave. I mean, we can't stay there FOREVER, can we? Why would we want to? At some point, we have to list a set of circumstances that need to be fulfilled before we withdraw, yes? I'm not talking about a "time-table," just a definition of "Win the war." Republicans have failed to do even this. Isn't it obvious that someone must?
Guess what else? A blood bath in Iraq is no unavoidable. The occupation (and that's what it is, no matter what name you give it) has been tragically mismanaged. Of course Iraqis want us out of their country; we after all have our boots applied to their necks. Why wouldn't they want us out?
Lastly, it is foolish to think we can bring the Iraqi people democracy. Democracy is the willingness to hear the viewpoint of those with whom you disagree. This is not a tenant that is in keeping with Shiite Islam (you know, the faction we propped up as our partners in this fiasco?) Look at it this way: What would the average Iraqi rather see; Saddam back in power, or his sister walking down the streets of Baghdad in a mini-skirt?

The blood bath has been going on for a while now. There have been more deaths in the last four years than during Saddam's regime.
To Spanky, I've seen a lot of Republicans blaming Bush's failures on Clinton. To newbiegranny, this war has supposedly brought Democracy to Iraq, the Shiites are in the majority. The Shiites control Iran. By replacing Sunnis with Shiites Bush has just turned the balance of power over to Iran. To Suspender, Bush got us into THIS war. FDR did the only thing he could and I believe we won that war. Nixon took his sweet time in ending the Vietnam war(about enough time to use the negotiations to get re-elected) . He didn't do that great, a lot of lives were lost during his presidency and the ultimate outcome was the same.

You mean a different one than the one that has been going on under Bush? I dont understand. Also, please let me know when the "mission" in Iraq changed from WMDs to forcing democracy down Iraqi throats at gunpoint?
You would serve yourself well to reflect on the election and why the Republicans lost, and maybe lose some of our illusions...

The middle east has been a blood bath for thousands of years.
The current blood bath has been going on for three years.
What is it exactly that we are supposed to do to stop it.
The morons that started this are the republicans who fraudulently tried to connect Iraq to 9/11.

Historically, dems aren't very good at war. Kennedy almost went nuclear against Russia. Truman DID go nuclear against Japan. Johnson got us stuck in Vietnam and it took Nixon to get us out of that mess. The list is long and ignominous.
It don't look good from here...
Republicans start wars??? I didn't know Roosevelt was a Republican!

Yes. A blood bath in Iraq will not stand in the way of them forwarding their foolish agenda. They ran on a pacifist platform.
Oh, and I expect Iran to march into Iraq as soon as we march out.
