They get the attention because they are rich and powerful.

They are also attractive to the media because the regime is somewhat oppressive. Censorship abounds and this became very obvious after the attack on the twin towers in 2001. I remember CNN broadcasting reports of American citizens trying to understand why the attack took place. At first I thought this was a spoof programme until I realised that it was for real and that the persons featured had obviously only been fed very heavily censored information.

America will always hit the headlines because of its bold moves. Eg they invade Iraq - that is news. They think about pulling out because they are not able to achieve their objective - again very newsworthy.

I wouldn't call them bigotted. My impression is that many of the citizens are just ignorant because of censorship or the lack of balanced opinions. I pity those who have to live under such conditions.

Talking of bigoted idiots perhaps you ought to choose your words more carefully.. You my friend could be seen has bigoted simply by the language you use!..

Like it or not America is the leader of the free world.. What goes on over there will effect us one way or another !. Would you rather hear about whats going on France ! Germany! Belgium! or maybe Greece! turkey or Ireland!..or the dreaded EU in general.. I know what i find more interesting and its got nothing to do with the EU.

Well to be fair as a UK resident with half blood each side of the ocean - I'd have to say that both countries have a large share of bigoted idiots. The USA gets a lot of media attention because its generally puts a lot into world affairs, medical science, technology, entertainment and so on...to the lovely people of the USA - please don't hold the comments of one bonkers individual against the UK or it's residents:)

PS- it's wise when calling people names that you check your spelling / grammar otherwise people may dismiss you as ignorant...

You sound like a bigoted idiot towards Americans.
Figures you are from England. Where they seem to "hate the 'yanks'."
Why in the hell do you call us Yanks anyways?
If you lived here you would understand the love we have for our country and the Patriotism we display.

Because the British TV media has a left wing bias against America. I presume you are left wing as well: you seem to have been successfully indoctrinated.

America affects the world like no other country. Our elections, decisions, and policies have impact in every country on earth. Name one other country with that influence.

:) ))America is currently involved herself in the biggest controversy of brutal implication of her new world order and is responsible for rupturing the world peace.
This election was contested by two parties, one believes in controversy and the other believes in harmony. Perhaps that’s why the whole world was interested in the outcome of their election.
