yes it can happen.
I had a miscarriage and got pregnant in the month between doctors visits. SO my body recognized the miscarriage and even though I was gaining weight and having symptoms of pregnancy I was told I was NOT pregnant and after 15 doctor visits. I had to have a sonogram before being told I was pregnant and was already 5 months along. I literally had 6 doctors tell me I was not pregnant but because of my miscarriage I was having " ghost sypmtoms " and I should go home and nature would take care of it all in time. I thought I was going crazy. I laughed myself off the table when they told me I was indeed pregnant.
So stranger things have happened and I would take another test in a week or so and if it comes out negative then i woudl assume that you were pregnant and now have had a miscarriage. Then please consult a doctor to make sure that everything is ok and you are in no danger of infection.

Generally when you miscarry, even in early pregnancy you have a noticeably different period. i.e. more painful cramps, heavier bleeding, longer bleeding time, possible fever, nuasea, feeling weak. You need to have a blood and urine test done at the same time, possibly in the ER. The urine test determines HCG in the urine, and the blood test determines the presence of that same hormone in the blood stresm, in a normal pregnancy the hormone increases every 48 hours, and can be detected in the urine and blood in elevated levels as to indect a normally progressing pregnancy. At this point if you were pregnant it wouldn't show up on a unltrasound, not until at least 7-8 weeks whenyou can at least see a shrimp like formation which is the embryo .

You should test again. Some women have spotting or what is similar to a normal period during pregnancy.

I would call the doctor and make an appointment. You need to know what is really going on. Stressing out over all of this will just makes you crazy. Good luck to you in what ever happens.
