The President states that we're not going to quit until the war is finished. Well Rumsfeld is the one that pushed the war and heavily supported the war. He quit, does that mean that the war should be finished?

Rumsfeld resigned for two basic reasons.

1.) The string-pullers hope that he will do as a scape-goat and draw heat away from the real culprit.

2.) The same people realize that the Muslim fundamentalists overseas will use his resignation as propaganda, and that should have an impact here in the U.S. so the lame-duck Congress can get away with a few more bits of dirty pool.

So now, bush wants to replace Rummy with another of his father's buddies, CIA chief (the same CIA that he has been blaming for causing him to go into Iraq with faulty intelligence)!

No, we are far from the war being finished. Rumsfeld is/was incompetent. Hopefully, with this new guy, Gates, our leaders can come up with a better plan to do what we have to do and get out of Iraq. It probably won't be anytime soon though. You can't clean up years of mess in a few days.

It is not in the best interest of the US to leave until the
Iraqis can handle their own security.
The President is the Commander in Chief, he made the decision
and Congress supported the decision at the time.

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- In a major victory for the White House, the Senate early Friday voted 77-23 to authorize President Bush to attack Iraq if Saddam Hussein refuses to give up weapons of mass destruction as required by U.N. resolutions.

Hours earlier, the House approved an identical resolution, 296-133.

Our troops should be pulled back to the borders to defend the country while Iraq takes care of it's insurgent problem for themselves.

We can't just up and leave after the the Bush Administration destabilized the region.

Interesting question! still the White House did state they were not going to change a thing so i don't think his departure is going to mean the end of the war yet.
