I tell them I don't agree. I have to stand my ground no matter what. No need in being phony.

I wouldn't lie about it. Everyone has the right to their opinions, and everyone has the right to disagree with other's opinions. When someone disagrees with me, I just say well - everyone is intitled to their own opinion and let it go. If I disagree with someone, I say the same thing and move on to some other topic. However, if you can have a friendly debate, then go for it - you never know what you may learn.

I always make sure my views are heard. If and when we come to an impass I smile, shrug, and politely say that we will have to agree to disagree (especially on hot topics like politics, etc).

If it is stranger or someone I just want to stop talking to then I will just nod along, tell them that they are preaching to the choir and then excuse myself.

What you should do, I guess is say nothing. But what I do is tell them I don't agree. Gets me into hot water sometimes. But at least they know where I stand.

I usually say I disagree but I also like to expand on why I disagree so that the person can get where I'm coming from and I also listen to what they have to say. Makes for healthy discussions as well as broaden one's scope or point of view.
