They have been my favourite band since their first CD came out, and now it seems like everyone is claiming to be their #1 fan. It gets me so p.o.'ed. No one even heard of them before they started appearing on MTV, and now people think that I'm a follower, which I definately do not want to be considered. Whenever people say, "Oh, When You Were Young is my favourite song, I LOVE The Killers!" I just want to punch them in the face or ask,"Okay, how long have you liked the band?" Depending who it is. Who else is annoyed?

Sorry, but that lament has been around forever.
I used to hear it in the metal crowd. "You haven't liked Metallica as long as I have"
or
"I liked them from the beginning"
Back in my college days, you weren't even considered cool unless you listened to Bruce Springsteen BEFORE he became famous.
It doesn't matter if you are snotty to people because of their address or their clothes or how long they've like a band.
A snot is a snot.

yes. that is annoying. i remember when "somebody told me" premiered on fuse a LONG time ago and i was asking people if they'd heard of this new band, the killers and they assumed i was talking about satanic music or something. then about 5 months later when "mr. brightside" came out you would not believe how many people were like "OMG! i love the killers! they're my favorite band!" i'm oh my god. and now it's the same process with sam's town. UGH.

different than the undeniable fact that this reads like a poorly-formatted blog get right of entry to, confident, stereotypes are created via ignorant people. yet they are going to in no way bypass away. it particularly is purely the way our society works. although, further and further, we are able to be sure that many each and every physique is mixing kinds collectively with the aid of type it particularly is at present in trend. little or no do I see people donning completely one type or type of prefer anymore, so those stereotypes would be lost and altered with new ones.

i feel the exact same way. i've loved the killesr since hot fuss, and now everyone else claims to "love them" and the same goes for a lot of other bands, like fall out boy and panic! at the disco, which i started liking way before they got nearly as big as they are today also.

If it makes you happier, I think these bands are much better than The Killers:

The Von Bondies
The Mooney Suzuki
The D4
Poets of the Fall
Valeze
The Start
Actionslacks

Aren't people allowed to like bands when they want? Or do they have to like bands from the very first album to be considred a "fan"? Personally, I don't consider myself a fan, but I do like their latest album more than their first.

Umm...I don't really care who else likes 'em. I think they're AWESOME and Brandon used to be smokin' hot till he grew that creepy little porn-star moustache. (For the record, I'd still do him).
