No mascara cannot rot your eyelashes. However, if you do not change your mascara every so often you might get an infection which may be what you are thinking of.

Mascara will not "rot" your lashes. After the tube has been opened it will only be good for the maximum of 6 months but its recommended that mascara is replaced every 3 months. If you are using old mascara it will make your lashes get really dry, fall out and you may develop an eye infection. NEVER share your mascara or any of your makeup with anyone...not even your sister or closet friend(s).

It's not that it rots them, but what it does, is that it kills the tiny creatures that spend generation after generation eating the dead skin from in-between them...
They perform a similar function as the bird you see on the back of a Rhinocerous, and without them, the area around the eyelash will crust up more often, creating a less healthy condition...

Of course not, that is wild, just make sure to take it off everyday, it can dry out the lashes.
