No, he would never have gone peacefully. Dictators rarely leave power easily.That does not mean we did it in the right way or at the right time.

He continued to seek and develop chemical, biological, and nuclear weapons, ; brutalizing the Iraqi people, including committing gross human rights violations and crimes against humanity; supporting international terrorism; refusing to release or account for prisoners of war and other missing individuals from the Gulf War era; refusing to return stolen Kuwaiti property; and working to circumvent the UN's economic sanctions.
I guess we could have invited him for tea and busted him ..

He was not alone - it was hard to take him out with violence.
He has been violent in the court room & thrown out several times.
His men have been violent including killing the Judge's brother & nephews.
No I do not believe we could reason with him or ignore him. He is dangerous until the day they execute him.

of course,, the people he killed was in 1980,, Osama is the mastermind of 9-11-2001,, at the rate Bush was headed,, we would bring Osama to justice in 20 years
