why are you people happy about the dems taking control of congress? Now we will have higher taxes, we will be less safe than we were before because dems are weak on national security. They are going to have us pull out of iraq, which will say to the terrorists that they win and then start attacking us on our own soil. This is truley a sad day for America

i agree, but it's been a while since democrats have had control of congress. and don't forget they only control the house right now, it'll still be a while before all the votes for senate are counted and sorted out. here's to hoping for the senate!

Why am I happy?

Because the jokers that have been screwing up are out. And I will again vote against the Republicans in the 2008 elections.

And getting out of Iraq is the strategy - even GW was speaking of an "exit strategy" right before the elections. Even the military sees that Iraq is nothing but a bad dream. They have no monopoly on terrorist insurgents - they are all over the middle east. Matter of fact, since we went into Iraq, the last place the "terrorists" are right now is in Iraq. That is just PR speaking to your little sheepish mind.

It is a sad day in America. You are right on that. But it is sad because it took the Republicans having their asses handed to them in an election to realize that the American public was dissatisfied with them, and the government, and they want something to change right now. That is the only reason the Democrats are now in office. If they don't perform during this time, I see the public really griping at the next elections.

Here's your tissue, Alice. Now quit your crying and figure out how to fix things. It isn't about Republican and Democrat anymore, but about getting something done that will work for the American people. It's that easy.

If Dems can get these things passed with a Rep president, we will increase taxes on the rich, allowing states to get the federal funding they should be getting so that they can lower or at least stop increasing state taxes. State taxes tend to fall harder on the poor or average americans, do you really feel like your total tax burden is lower"? I don't, I feel like I am paying more in taxes than ever before because of all the state taxes, fees etc. that have had to go up to offset the federal money not coming to the states to fund the tax cut for the riches Americans. Dems are not weak on national security this is a Rep con job. What they have given us is a negation of constitutional rights, excused as protecting us from terrorism. I am not safer, just less free. This is a joyous day for America.

I think the SAD day was when Bush was elected to office....also were you there on 9/11 which was only 8 months into the inception of Bush's term as our President....were you also there when our national budget was at a surplus at the end of Clinton's term...You definitely must have been there when that budget took a quick dive in the opposite direction in the first few months after Bush was elected....so you were saying.... ?

How true! It's pretty scary to see where our country is going to go now with the democrats taking control of congress. Hopefully in these next two years Americans will wake up and see what is going on, and change their ways for the next election.

Ah yes, Bush fanatic are we? Look at history, you say the dems are weak, who dropped the bomb? Harry S Truman, Democrat! The republicans told him not to. They said that our marines could go take over Japan, a plan that predicted over 100,000 american deaths. truman said no, and found a way to win without sacrificing American troops. don't be a hater because your president can't do that.

Amen!

The problem is that the Dems are a bunch of children. They won. They don't care how it happened or what the end result will be. They only know they won.

We need to engage the liberals in a running-off-the-end-of-a-cliff race. On their way down, they'll be so proud that they won.
