Outsourcing..Turkey and Russia had already offered U.S. to keep their prisoners for a fee. I think that'd be good. Not only the cost to the U.S. taxpayers will drop, less people would want to go to jail - may be the crime rates will drop too..

yes there is a realistic answer. maybe the court system could actually punish the criminals. people convicted of murder and put on death row should me executed. that is why it is called death row and not life row. make the sentences harsh for criminals and make the prisons a place that people don't want to go. i worked in a prison so i know what it is like in there. sure there is **** rape, butt here is also free food and housing for them. they watch tv, play sports, free education. make prison a real prison. in a small room by themselves with no tv or sports. give them an hour a day to exercise by themselves. give them no physical contact with anyone else. and if they want education make it on a student loan system where they have to pay it all back. those changes there would guarantee a lower criminal census in our prisons that taxpayers pay for, and by proxy would lower the crime rate. i'm an a_s hole, and i approve this message. thank you for your support.

Anyone who thinks prison is comfy should spend a day in prison they soon change there minds , there is as much to fear in prison as there is on the outside of prison .The reason the prison population keeps going up is because people who have been released from prison soon re-offend as they have no means of support on the outside. ie lack of social networks or employment. Most ex prisoners (age under 21)re-offend in the first two years of release .The answer to this question is to look why people commit crimes in the first place .

Society would go a long way by releasing misdemeanor drug offenders. Our prisons are overcrowded with inmates who have committed minor crimes like this, and sadly our nation's "war on drugs" often forces overcrowded prisons to release violent felony offenders early. It's a horrid situation that would be solved by...

*gasp*

Legalizing drugs, and allowing people to take responsibility for their own actions.

Actually making prisons unpleasant places (taking away televisions, costly entertainment, luxuries), wouldn't be bad either. Some people prefer jail to working a job and living on their own, just because it's comfortable and they don't have to do much.

Drop them off in Siberia and see how they fare. Failing that, put them in penal colonies on the moon. Bring back justice with public hangings. It seems criminals have more rights than their victims. Bring back justice for victims!

Set up a prison on another planet and actually use the death penalty to those who deserve it.
