First, I want to address the person who is misinforming you on the girl with the infection: the girl pierced herself and punctured her bowels. THAT is why she nearly died. NOT because someone else pierced her. She didn't go to a qualified piercer... SHE DID IT HERSELF, stupidly. Quit spinning the facts in order to promote your anti-piercing agenda.

Now... everyone feels pain differently. Some people think navel piercings don't hurt at all, some people think they're awful. It just depends on the piercer and your pain tolerance. It's over before you know it, though and then it just feels like a bruise.

Most places will allow you to get pierced with parental permission (your parent has to go with you and has to have ID and proof that they're your parent). You can search for qualified piercers in your area by visiting http://www.safepiercing.org

Good luck!

If you're younger than 18, you have to have a parent with you at the parlor. There will be papers to fill out and etc. If over 18, you can just bring yourself and your id. From my own experience when i got my navel pierced, it didnt hurt. you can call me a freak but it actually felt pretty good. I was scared of getting hurt at first, but it didnt. I would rate it a 1. I think it all depends on a person and how much pain she can withstand. Hey if you want to get your belly pierced, go ahead! Good luck

First off let me say this, did you not hear about the girl who got a severe infection and ended up going from 140 lbs to 75 lbs and being bed written with a pamper because she was afraid to tell her mother she got her belly button pierced??? It was in the news - she ended up in the hospital. Then there was the girl who got her nipple pierced without her parents knowing and ended up losing her breast to an infection. Why do you want to be like everyone of your friends and get pierced? Sexy is natural girlfriend. You don't need piercings, tatoo's, and all that crap to appeal to a man or in your case a boy. Be yourself not the person your friends want you to be and by the way it hurts like hell!!!

As far I know, yeah, you can get it done with parent's approval. I got mine done at 18 though, so I'm not certain.

10 being hurts terribly? Maybe a three at worst. It hurt less than getting my ears done; it's not bad at all.

I would just say that the risks aren't worth it. If you think getting your ears pierced hurts, you don't want your belly button pierced. Besides, NOT having your belly button pierced these days is UNIQUE. Having one is just jumping on the band wagon that left like 10 years ago..... Just my opinion.
