wen u read the book first and then watch movie then 90% of the cases u wont like but a person watching a movie without knowing about the book may enjoy it better, I believe reading book is good than watching movie based on it ,coz u use ur imagination to understand the book and is always good, and again everyone neednot have time to go thru the whole book or there are people who r illiterate thus movie may be better in comparision.

Most movies are based on books. Few are written from scratch as a script (whether the original book author writes a screenplay from it, or -- more likely -- a screenwriter adapts the book as a screenplay). The list is FAR too long to list here :)
