This is what I was worried about all along, that this stupid primary will cost them control of the senate.

What a win for us Democrats! The Republicans financed Lieberman's win and now he will caucus with the Democrats!!!

It was a win/win situation for us. HA,HA.

Well, at his core, Lieberman is still a democrat, AND the democratic party did not reject him, Connecticut Dems rejected him because of his STRONG support for George's War.

If you listen to Joe talk now, you realize he now knows his blind support for the war misguided. He will still support the war, but not so blindly now.

Also, beyond being a warkhawk, he is quite liberal in his core... he is endorsed by labor groups, etc.

So, while he is TECHNICALLY listed as an Independent, he is still registered as a Democrat and will vote like he always has.

Also, Vermont elected Bernie Sanders to Senate as an Independent, but Bernie is about as Progressive as you get. Hydrogen cars, environment, etc.

Finally, Montana is being called a Dem win and it is looking like Virginia will ultimately go Dem as well.

All is good, the net effect is a win for a more progressive viewpoint in the House AND Senate, and THAT is what matters.

I don't get the question. Joe is more republican than democrat. It was right to try to unseat him on those grounds.

Joe was wrong for not accepting defeat.

The worry was that he would split the dem vote, and lead to the seat going Republican in name as well as fact, but that didn't happen.

The primary didn't cost them the Senate; Joe did (sort of). But don't forget Bernie; though not a dem, he'll support the dems against King George. (And we might have Virginia; if the recount is fair.)

I don't think so. Lieberman is still a Democrat and will caucus with them, and will be counted toward their control.

Unless you mean they could have spent the money elsewhere to win something they narrowly lost, it doesn't change anything.

Not really we got all those republicans to vote for Lieberman, a democrat.

Wow. A centrist won over the far left, and that seems to bother you.
