Practically speaking, the repubs since Chenney would cast tie breaking votes.
But it won't be 50/50 since there's at least 1 independent.
oops-- hadn't considered who ends up being majority leader etc. Not sure how that works frankly. I"m sure there are Senate rules to determine that.

Republicans would retain "control", because the VP will have the tiebreaking vote. However, with a 50/50 Senate and a Dem house, playing the VP card will only continue to damage the credibility(?) of the Bush Administration, and make it even easier to elect a Dem in 08.
