my laptop doesnt play sounds like when you open a folder or when im online watching videos on youtube. i was wondering if it had to do with audio codecs or something like that and if it does what can i do about it?

Well, if you can't seem to play videos on youtube...then i guess it has to do with plug-in like flash player...you can goto www.macromedia.com to download flash player...because youtube offers videos in flv [flash video] format...
But still if you want to ensure that each and every playable format should run on your computer .. like real media formats...[ .ra , .rm etc] or quick time formats... or divx formats... then you do need to download codecs [coders decoders]...

if it has sound you gonna need to install the drivers for the sound card if it's just certain files than do a search for k-lite mega codec pack and dowload it and install it's free so don't worry make sure to follow instructions

yes it does you can download mega codecs and it will solve the issue
