The city itself is undergoing a lot of reconstruction and at times looks like it's on its last legs. We have two train stations, but neither are a main line (though Leeds is only a 30 minute journey away). The university itself is pretty much like any other university, with a decent social scene (if you keep away from Rio's, which has turned into a pit over the past few years).

An earlier poster commented on the race issue, but it should be taken with a pinch of salt: Bradford is no better or worse than any other city.

All-in-all, your best bet would be to visit the city first for a day. Make up your own mind because it's the only true freedom you have.

If there is a lot of racism against Hindu's, I imagine it will be coming from Muslims rather than Christians. If I was you, I would choose a different University in the UK. Maybe experience London or Birmingham. I would say, they are more exciting cities than Bradford.
